Policies

All RISD rules, policies, and procedures apply in the dining venues to ensure that each guest can have a positive dining experience. See below or review your dining license agreement for more details.

Dining plan billing and use

For students living off campus, dining plans are billed twice a year with a two-week cancellation window during the first week of each semester. After the cancellation window, you cannot cancel your off-campus dining plan.

Met Swipes, Café Credits, and Dining Points are nontransferable. If you would like to donate a guest swipe, you may do so through the Swipe it Forward program once per semester. If you have a guest joining you for a meal, you must use a guest meal.

You may use up to two Café Credits per meal (breakfast, lunch or brunch, dinner, and late-night meals). 

Conduct in the dining venues

RISD ID Cards must be presented when making a Dining purchase. RISD ID cards presented by someone other than the person pictured (without Health Services' approval in cases of illness) will be confiscated. An email will be sent to the owner of the ID card to retrieve the card in the Dining Services office. If the ID card is not picked up by the venue's closing time, it will be given to Public Safety or Card Services. 

We prohibit the removal of RISD Dining property, including plates, cutlery, or food, from any of our venues. Taking food or beverages from the dining halls without paying for them is considered theft. Any student caught removing property from the dining venues will be referred to Student Conduct and Community Standards. 

Use of dining venues

Only RISD-affiliated groups may distribute written materials or give presentations in the dining areas, and only with our permission.

Entry into kitchen and food preparation areas is restricted to RISD Dining & Catering personnel only.

Animals in the dining venues

As stated by law, service animals are the only animals we will allow in our dining facilities. If you bring a service animal into a dining area, you must accompany it at all times. We reserve the right to deny a service animal access to the facility if its behavior presents a direct threat to the health or safety of others.

You are not permitted to bring support or therapy animals into dining venues. We will ask any support or therapy animals we see in our venues to be removed.
